My Values
Compassion – Meeting each person with empathy, respect, and care.
Integrity – Building trust through honesty, confidentiality, and authenticity.
Growth – Encouraging self-awareness, resilience, and transformation.
Spirituality – Honoring faith, meaning, and the deeper dimensions of healing.
Holism – Recognizing the mind, body, and spirit as interconnected.
Abzu Wellness is all about discovering the inner parts of ourselves, to facilitate growth and to explore parts of ourselves left buried.

About Me
Hi, I’m Duncan De Waal. A Wellness counselor based in South Africa.
I’m passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s emotional challenges with care, clarity, and compassion. I’m designated by the ASCHP (Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners) and have been offering mental health and emotional wellness support for over a year.
My journey into counseling began with a deep love for people and language. I studied a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English, with a focus on neuropsychology and linguistics. I later realized that I wanted to lean in on the counseling aspect and completed a 220-hour counseling course through Humanitas, which equipped me with both the theoretical foundation and hands-on practical experience to support others in meaningful ways.
Over the course of my practice, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges. From toxic work environments and emotional trauma to self-doubt and relationship struggles. These experiences have taught me how deeply personal and unique each story is, and how important it is to meet people with empathy and understanding.
I truly love the work I do. It’s my mission to continue growing in this field, offering grounded, person-centered counseling that empowers my clients to feel heard, valued, and supported.
